For years the Village of Floral Park has hosted its annual street festival, which is coordinated by the Floral Park Chamber of Commerce and the New York Racing Association (NYRA), to celebrate the village and the Belmont Stakes—the third and final leg of the Triple Crown in horse racing.
Stretching down Tulip Avenue, this year’s festival, which is celebrating the 151st Belmont Stakes and takes about six months to coordinate and plan, promotes Floral Park’s local restaurants, businesses and organizations. Festival-goers can also enjoy two band stages that will be full of performances as well as plenty of entertainment, games, activities for kids and more.
“The annual Floral Park Chamber of Commerce Street Fair is always a great day in our village,” said Floral Park Mayor Dominick Longobardi. “I invite everyone and their families to come down to Tulip and celebrate our local businesses and organizations, sample some of the fine fare our restaurants offer, meet our local business owners and even shop a little. There will be rides for all of the kids to enjoy and you can speak with many of our local organizations, and maybe even become involved as a volunteer with one or two of them. Music and entertainment will be provided by our many talented local bands as well.”
Longobardi also said that the village is truly blessed to have local businesses who are always generous and giving when it comes to fundraisers and events that happen throughout Floral Park.
“I urge everyone to come out and enjoy the day and celebrate our local business establishments who help make Floral Park the great place it is,” said Longobardi.
The Floral Park Street Festival is on Sunday, June 2, from 1 to 6 p.m. on Tulip Avenue. The rain date for the festival is the following Sunday on June 9.
