Winter is coming, but that hardly deterred young track stars from Nassau County as they traveled to Herricks High School on Dec. 3 to compete in that high school’s first ever Winter Track Invitational.

Athletes from various schools braved the cold to compete. Boys’ track teams from Baldwin, Hewlett, Island Trees, Mineola, New Hyde Park and Plainview JFK were in attendance, and girls’ track teams from Baldwin, Island Trees, Mineola and New Hyde Park participated as well.

The Herricks Athletic Boosters sold hot chocolate, coffee and food. As a result of the great energy and positive feedback, the district hopes to make this an annual event.
