Students at Floral Park High School were recognized for participating in the seventh annual Charity Champions program from Optimum Community that encourages high schools to raise funds for a charity of their choice. The school was presented with $1,000 to be donated to Reason2Smile, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide education, food, clothing and healthcare to orphaned and at-risk children at the Jambo Jipya school and orphanage in Mtwapa Kenya. The check was presented to the students at the start of the “Battle of the Bands” fundraising event organized by students in the Global Awareness Club and members of the Student Council.
