Registration for all of the above programs will take place on Wednesday evening, May 18, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the pool and recreation building. Applications for the mentioned programs are available at the pool building and park Shelterhouse.
The har-tru tennis courts are now seeing full-day play. The recreation center’s opening day tournament will take place on Saturday, May 14. Players who wish to enjoy the first mini-tournament of the season will have a full morning of play, mixed, “A” and “B” doubles action.
The tournament fee is $5 and includes bagels, coffee or juice. All players must have new 2016-17 VFP Leisure Pass or the 2015 resident pool pass. Sign-in is at 8 a.m. by the tennis courts and play begins by 8:30 a.m. Rain date is the following day—Sunday. In addition to tournament play, tennis lessons have begun during the week. Individual and group instructions, drills and doubles play have enabled all to improve their skill levels. With har-tru tennis courts needing daily watering, maintenance takes place Monday, Wednesday and Fridays from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday from noon to 1:30 p.m.
Residents are reminded that bicycles are not permitted in the park. Bike racks have been installed for all those who cycle to the facility. Please remember in accordance with village ordinance, smoking is not permitted in the park or pool grounds. The official 2016-17 resident VFP Leisure pass is needed upon request for use of facility and equipment. All residents are urged to apply for the new and free VFP Leisure pass which is easy to acquire for all VFP residents.
