The 2015 Floral Park Street Fair and Festival is on Sunday, June 7, from 2 to 7 p.m. The street fair will be held on Tulip Avenue, from Verbena to Plainfield avenues in the Village of Floral Park. The annual fair, sponsored by the Floral Park Chamber of Commerce with support from New York Racing Association and the Village of Floral Park, is set to be the village’s biggest event ever with fun for all ages.
This year’s street fair will be jam-packed with many vendors, great food and six talented bands.
There will be performances by the Floral Park Memorial Florettes, Floral Park’s Dancing Queens, Center Stage and One Sound Label. In addition, Michelle from The Body King will be providing a Zumba demonstration. There will be a ton of activities for the kids and adults.
As we all anticipate the opportunity for the first Triple Crown winner in 37 years, there will be a special celebrity guest, Penny Tweedy (Chenery), owner of Meadow Stables and breeder of Secretariat who won the Triple Crown in 1973. Tweedy will be available for a Q&A session. Her attendance is sponsored by Jameson’s Bar & Grill.
The Floral Park Art League will be hosting their annual art show and raffle in Memorial Park including original oil paintings, sketches and watercolors.
The fair’s first-ever dunk tank will be available, along with some of Floral Park’s movers and shakers as dunk-ees including Senator Jack Martins, Floral Park Police Commissioner Steve McAllister, Judge Doug Hayden, Duane King of the Body King and many others to be announced. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Nassau County Firefighters Operation Wounded Warrior (NCFF-OWW) Project. If you would like volunteer for dunking for a good cause or have any questions about the fair, please contact Stephen Wickes at One Sound Label 516-351-2850 or Jennifer McKendry of Wags to Whiskers and Exotics Pet Service 516-998-8096.
To quench your appetites there will be a wide assortment of delicious foods and satisfying beverages from local Floral Park eateries. The kids will love the face painters and street performers provided by Event King, and lots of fun with the many rides and attractions, including the Cradle of Aviation Museum in Garden City.
