Students and chaperones from Shenzhen Experimental School #2, located in Shenzhen, China and Quanzhou #7 High School located in Fujian, China, visited Sewanhaka High School on Thursday, March 12.
The visit, which served as a first step towards establishing friendly, cross-cultural exchanges between the schools, coincided with the Chinese students participation in the New York City FIRST Robotics Regional Championships at the Jacob Javits Convention Center.
Sewanhaka Central High School District Superintendent Dr. Ralph Ferrie, Sewanhaka Principal Debra Lidowsky and Assistant Principal Peter Dalton had an opportunity to speak with their Chinese counterparts about the differences in public school education in China and the United States during the visit.
They also participated in a videoconference with the principal of Shenzhen Experimental School #7.
While at Sewanhaka High School, the Chinese students had an opportunity to observe various classes offered through the district’s career and technical education program including, corporate communications and digital imaging, architecture and instrumentation and automation.
