Elmont to Host 2011 Belmont Stakes Parade on June 4

Floral Park and Garden City will celebrate the final leg of the Triple Crown with the return of the Belmont Festival on Friday, June 10. Each village will hold its annual celebration honoring the Belmont Stakes on the eve of its 143rd running.

The Garden City Belmont Festival will take place on Seventh Street from 6-10 p.m. and will feature entertainment, live music, family-friendly activities and a chicken wing contest. Local restaurants wishing to participate in the “Wing Off” can contact Tim Peeples at 516-459-3740.

The Floral Park Belmont Festival will take place on Tulip Avenue from 5-10 p.m. and will feature live music, traditional Irish dance performances and family-friendly activities. Festival-goers will get a taste of Floral Park as restaurants line the streets to offer culinary samples.

Belmont Stakes celebrations will begin June 4 when Elmont hosts the 2011 Belmont Stakes Parade. It will begin at the Elmont Library at 10:30 a.m. and end at Belmont Park. The community will have its Belmont Festival/Community Day in the Marquee tent.
