Hance Family Foundation Toy Drive Brings Joy to Needy Children

Floral Park and Local Communities Show True Spirit of Giving

Hance Family Foundation sponsored a local toy drive and collected, in just two weeks, more than 2,000 toys, which were hand-delivered to families in need by Christmas Eve in Floral Park, as well as nearby Nassau County areas, Brooklyn, the Bronx and Manhattan. The overwhelming number of gifts distributed by the Hance Family Foundation and the generous community of Floral Park reflects the true spirit of giving with an incredible response in such a short timeframe.

The Hance Family Foundation believes that the holiday season is a time to reflect on all the joys and blessings in our lives. Local families and Floral Park businesses embodied the holiday spirit in their willingness to be designated “toy drop offs,” and the community’s commitment to the project was exemplified not only by the donations, but also by the willingness of people to volunteer their time and energy to help organize and deliver the gifts by Christmas Eve.

Each donated toy is not just contributing to a toy drive, but contributing to a smile on a child’s face on Christmas morning.  So many families want to give their children more for Christmas, but simply do not have the economic means. Families in need from Floral Park and surrounding areas were invited to submit Christmas lists to the Foundation, in the hope of making as many children’s holiday wishes as possible come true this year through the Toy Drive.

“The outpouring of gifts has been truly amazing, and the Hance Family Foundation has been humbled by people’s goodwill and charity.  The tremendous outreach of individuals and families has turned a small, local toy drive into something much more impactful,” stated Bernadette Smith, senior vice president, and managing director of the Hance Family Foundation.

While the Hance Family Foundation has begun to touch the lives of many local children, they have high hopes that in the near future they will be able to expand their good works beyond the Long Island/New York City areas.

The Hance Family Foundation is a non-profit organization that works to support children’s endeavors. Established in 2009, the organization was founded in memory of Emma, Alyson and Kate Hance, who lost their lives in a car accident at the ages of 8, 7 and 5. The foundation works tirelessly to implement a variety of different projects to help as many children as possible, in as many ways as possible.  To find out more information about donating and volunteering for the Hance Family Foundation, please visit www.hancefamilyfoundation.org .
