Fun Events for the Entire Family

Like most municipalities across the country, we have had to tighten our belts in the face of the lingering economic decline. Nonetheless, we remain committed to providing fun activities, events and amusement such as our fireworks extravaganza and summer-long presentation of free concerts.

This fall, our autumn entertainment showcase will feature standbys North Hempstead residents have enjoyed over the years:

FamilyFest, scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 13, will kick off at noon with family activities including kayaking, wildlife presentations, sandcastle building, arts and crafts, kite flying, circle drumming, food, giveaways and much more. FamilyFest offers great music and entertainment by our featured ensembles The Happenings, playing fabulous music from the ’60s and ’70s, and the Bruce Springsteen tribute band Tramps Like Us.

On Tuesday, Sept. 22, the public is invited to celebrate our town’s history on North Hempstead Day. On-lookers will be transported back through history as the town board gathers at Mary Jane Davies Park for a grand presentation.

The annual Spooky Walk, from Oct. 29 through Nov. 1, offers three spine-chilling nights and two not-so-spooky afternoons on Halloween weekend. Vampires, ghouls, goblins and swamp monsters will prowl the grounds of Clark Botanic Garden in Albertson. Come out and enjoy the best spooky walk yet.

And all are invited to join the town during the holiday season at Clark Botanic Garden as we unite in a winter celebration of our various faiths, cultures and histories. On Saturday, Dec. 12 and Sunday, Dec. 13 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., children will be treated to special activities, train displays, nature crafts, holiday readings and much more! Winter Wonderland displays will run until Dec. 21.
