Margaret A. Savino

Margaret A. (Rauso) Savino, 78, of Falmouth, MA, and Naples, FL, and formerly of Floral Park, died at home surrounded by her family on April 25, 2009 after a year-long battle with brain cancer. She was the loving wife of Alessio Savino who was her constant companion for 57 years and her fearless caregiver throughout her illness.

Margaret was born and raised in Brooklyn and lived many years in Floral Park where she raised her family and worked as a credit manager.

In 1992 she retired along with her husband and they moved to Falmouth, MA, to be close to family. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, bridge, playing dominos, and swimming at Old Silver Beach, but mostly she enjoyed being a mom and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she is survived by her children, Joan Martinage and husband Tim of East Falmouth, Thomas Savino and wife Tammy of Waterford, NY, Alison Galante and husband Jim of Englewood, NJ, and Kenneth Savino and wife Ann of Milton; grandchildren, Amanda and Gregory Martinage, Cristopher, Matthew and Maria Savino and John and Amy Savino; brothers, Pasquale Rauso of Texas and Salvatore Rauso of New Jersey; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by numerous friends who supported her and lifted her spirits by kind gestures too numerous to mention.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on May 2 at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, N. Falmouth. Interment was private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Elizabeth Seton Church, P.O. Box 861, N. Falmouth, MA 02556 and Falmouth Service Center, P.O. Box 208, Falmouth, MA 02541.
