Students from Floral Park Memorial High School’s Virtual Enterprise program took part in their first Business and Entrepreneurship Leadership Conference at Long Island University on Nov. 9.
At the conference, which hosted more than 1,200 high school students from Long Island, participants networked with virtual businesses from other schools, delivered elevator pitches for their products or services and participated in breakout sessions on topics such as fashion, entertainment and entrepreneurship. Industry experts and successful entrepreneurs shared their business world experience, while discussing the importance of programs such as Virtual Enterprise.
Floral Park students pitched their KicksUp! concept to their counterparts, along with entrepreneurs and professors who judged them on the delivery of their pitch as well as how compelling and informative it was.
KicksUp! is an online shopping and styling service that focuses on sneakers. Based on the sneaker style chosen, an outfit is put together for the client, creating an easy, personalized way to styling. KicksUp! competed against 70 other firms. The students enjoyed the experiential learning day aimed at career-readiness and entrepreneurial enterprise.
